If it were up to Louis Smolka, he’d take short notice opportunities for every fight.

“Da Last Samurai” joined MMA Fighting for an exclusive interview to discuss training during the COVID-19 pandemic, having his scheduled fight with Davey Grant at UFC Columbus postponed, why he is so excited to compete under these kinds of conditions, similarities with his opponent, plans for a very active 2020, and more.

Smolka returns to action this Saturday when he faces Casey Kenney on just over a week’s notice at UFC on ESPN 9. The event, which will be headlined by a welterweight bout between Tyron Woodley and Gilbert Burns, is expected to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas
